Russell Westbrook arriva ai Los Angeles Lakers in cambio di Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell (che ha esercitato la Player Option) e la scelta numero 22 del Draft 2021. Dai Washington Wizards arrivano anche due future seconde scelte (2024 e 2028).

Westbrook – 33 anni a Novembre – è reduce dalla quarta stagione chiusa con una tripla doppia di media (22.2 punti, 11.5 rimbalzi e 11.7 assist). In carriera l’MVP del 2017 ha messo a referto 184 triple doppie, superando lo storico record di Oscar Robertson. Russell ha affidato ai social un messaggio di ringraziamento e saluto ai Wizards.
